Valerie Pike is Department Head of French programs with The Centre for Distance Learning and Innovation (CDLI), a division of the provincial Department of Education located at Memorial University in St. John's, NL. Her work focuses on the development and delivery high school core French programs via live application of ICT.
Valerie has been involved in various aspects of curriculum development in NL and has served as Advanced Placement (AP) French Language Faculty Reader in New Jersey, and as presenter at the AP National Institute in Toronto, the CASLT/ACPI National Conferences in Charlottetown and Saskatoon, and the Languages Without Borders Conference in Edmonton. She has participated in the development of provincial curriculum for Core French, French Immersion, and International Studies.
Valerie is the recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Rotary Award for Excellence in Teaching, and she was awarded the inaugural French Immersion Teaching Award by CPF Newfoundland and Labrador.
