Games and Activities: Four Fingered Lotto
|
Submitted by Caterina Sotiriadis
Theme: The alphabet or vocabulary/ expressions any other theme
Level: Grades 1 to 9
Objective: To reinforce and review the alphabet or any vocabulary and expression of any theme
Material: A sheet of paper divided into four squares.
Method: The class reviews the entire alphabet. On their sheet of paper, the students are to print a letter of their choice, one per square. The teacher calls out in random order the alphabet. As the teacher calls a letter, the student who has this letter on his sheet places one finger to cover that square. The student who has covered the four squares with his four fingers calls out " LOTO ". To "correct" his sheet, the teacher asks the winning student to call out the letters of the alphabet on his sheet.
For other themes, the words and expressions studied should be visible to the students to copy correctly to their sheet. The vocabulary may be on the board, on an overhead or taken directly from a book.
The students should use the thumb and index finger of both hands for this game. This game may be used for many themes.
