Games and Activities: Pantomime with the Weather
|
Theme: The weather
Level: K to grade 6
Objective: To practice structures that describe the weather
Material: Your hands
Method: The teacher labels as much of the classroom as possible at the beginning of the year or semester. The teacher uses two different colours for the labels to distinguish the masculine " le/ il, " and the feminine " la "; for example, all masculine words with the article " le/ il” may be written on yellow labels. Feminine words with the article " la " may be written on green labels. The teacher then laminates all the labels and proceeds to "stick" the labels on the corresponding object.
The students are asked to look for a pattern. The students will soon discover the distinction between feminine and masculine words. After the labels have been in the room for awhile, the teacher removes them and as the students enter the class, they are to place the labels at the appropriate places.
These labels can provide the vocabulary for several activities, such as, concentration, tic/tac/toe, and 4 fingered loto to name a few.
