The tools described below were created by the Department of Arts Instructional Support and Information Technology (Arts ISIT) at the University of British Columbia.
Vocabulary Memorization Platform – “This Flashcards Tool is designed to help students memorizing the spelling of words. On the web, instructors can quickly set up a dictionary database by entering the new words with corresponding translation to be learned in a lecture and this database then be instantly plugged into the online Flashcard games for students to play with. Students can also select a set of Flashcards to print on paper.”
The Language Pronunciation and Comprehension Learning Tool (LPCLT) is designed to enhance a student's comprehension and pronunciation of a particular language. It allows teachers to author vocabulary and sentence structures into an oral component, to aid students in learning to hear and speak a new language.
The Image Annotation Tool allows instructors to upload images and quickly create text boxes referring to parts of a diagram, painting, or photo. The tool will provide a link to the annotated image which can then be distributed to students.

The Mixxer is a free educational site for language learners and teachers to find a language partner for a language exchange. The language partner is someone who speaks the language you study as their native language and is studying your native language. The partners then meet online to help each other practice and learn a foreign language.

EdTechTalk is a community of educators interested in discussing and learning about the uses of educational technology. We webcast several live shows each week. During shows, listeners can use any common media player (i.e. Windows Media Player, Real Player, or iTunes) to listen to the discussion and use the chat room to make comments and ask questions. It is also possible to join in the discussion using skype or (sometimes) a U.S. based teleconference.
After each show, a recording of the discussion is posted as an mp3 file, which can be downloaded directly from the site or subscribed to using our RSS feed. Also usually posted is a chat room transcript. There is also a comment forum where people can continue the discussion (in text) after the show.
Open Culture: Foreign Language Lesson Podcast Collection - Here you will find a list of foreign language lesson podcasts that you can download to your iPod or just listen to on your computer. Lesson podcasts are available for the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Thai.
