Caterina Sotiriadis

Caterina M. Sotiriadis was the Core French consultant for the province of Manitoba working at the Bureau de l'éducation française. She wrote and implementsed curriculum for teachers and students for all grades K to 12 as well as provided workshops to FSL teachers in all areas pertaining to their work - evaluation, methodology, reading skills, working with multigrades, and selection of materials. She also wrote, created and delivered support policy documents for the ministry in the form of textual documents, multimedia kits, videos, DVD's and internet courses. She sits on several provincial and national committees regarding multiculturalism, equity and diversity, distance education and technology. She speaks 5 languages and has degrees in 4 - French, Spanish, Italian and English. She has also presented dozens of workshops for various including Japanese, Punjabi, Greek, Italian, and Portuguese in Manitoba and throughout Canada. Caterina has also taught at the University of Manitoba in the faculties of Art and Education, the Collège Universitaire de St. Boniface and in France at the Université de Caen. language groups

Title of Workshop/Presentation: Reading in the Second Language Classroom Language of Delivery: French and / or English Target Audience: Core French, Grades 1-6; 7-9; 10-12 Session Description: Based on the multidimensional approach, this presentation will consist of modeling the methodology as well as providing lists of FSL readers while incorporating practical activities to be used in the classroom Lots of ideas and material presented. Handouts provided.
