Helen Coltrinari
Contact: helenc.hmc@sympatico.ca Helen Coltrinari has been a teacher in both immersion and core French programs in Canada and in Europe (Canadian Forces Base, Baden-Sollingen Germany). In her diverse career, she has been a secondary school Department Head, an Executive Producer with TVOntario, an on-air host of several television series, a writer of teacher guides and classroom ready resources, a web content designer, a workshop presenter, a keynote speaker, a tour group leader, and a writer for Canadian publishing houses. In addition, she has designed and delivered television utilization workshops, short courses in multimedia, media literacy, and curricula for distance learning programs. Recent workshops include literacy, brain theory, differentiation, and cool web tools. Ms. Coltrinari holds an M.A. (French) from the University of Toronto and an M.Ed. from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). As well as teaching courses for Brock University’s M.Ed program, she is a published author, a former member of an international team working with teachers in Brazil, and is awaiting the publication of a cookbook (working title - A Taste of Toronto: the history of Toronto through ethnic homecooking, Cormorant Books, 2010) She is a past president of the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT), the current President of French for the Future/le français pour l’avenir, the chair of the Cabbagetown Preservation Association (CPA) and assists with a wide variety of community projects. Most recently, a proposal she wrote for the CPA was awarded funds from the Trillium Fondation. Ms. Coltrinari currently manages her own educational consulting firm and lives in downtown Toronto. |
