Other Languages

The Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT) has been encouraged to take the lead in the development of a cohesive network among teachers of languages other than French in all provinces and territories. We conducted an online survey of our teacher members, focus group sessions with key language advisors in various jurisdictions and initiated the process to coordinate a national conference of international languages to be held in Edmonton, Alberta in the spring of 2009.

Celebrating Languages Week Kit

We have developed this initial teacher support resource to help teachers in planning and implementing activities for a Celebration of Languages within their schools and communities. The kit includes four multilingual poster/teaching tools, a PDF teacher support guide and student bookmarks featuring the benefits of language learning. This kit was financed by Alberta Education.
