Chantal Lafargue occupies a shared role as a Faculty Associate at the Second Language Research Institute of Canada (L2RIC) within the Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick, and as a Newcomer Support Teacher for the Anglophone West School District. Her current responsibilities with Anglophone West include working as a liaison between schools, community agencies, and newcomer families enrolling their children in the school system. Her role at the university has seen her supporting researchers and educators in conducting collaborative action research, disseminating findings, teaching in both graduate and undergraduate programs, supporting pre-service teachers, and contributing to curricular and CEFR-related initiatives at the New Brunswick Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Chantal has received much recognition — including a recent Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Teaching — for her service to the profession as a Spanish, French Immersion, and English as an Additional Language (EAL) teacher. Prior to being nominated to the CASLT Board, Chantal served five years on CASLT’s National Council.
