Gillian Blackmore is a Program Specialist (French Programs) with the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District. In this role, she supports curriculum implementation and administers funding to support French programs. During her career as an educator focusing primarily on second language learning and literacy development, Gillian acquired extensive experience working in the field of French as a second language instruction, having taught French immersion, Core French and Intensive Core French.
She is a former Program Specialist (Federal-Provincial Programs) with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Newfoundland and Labrador, responsible for administration of the Agreement for Minority-Language Education and Second-Language Education. Gillian has presented at numerous national conferences and has served on the Teachers Advisory Committee of the Teachers Institute on Canadian Parliamentary Democracy.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in French and a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University, and a Masters of Education in Second Language Teaching from the University of Ottawa.
