Languages Without Borders (LWB), Canada’s premiere professional learning event for second language educators is coming to Atlantic Canada.
The Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT) is partnering with the Second Language Research Institute of Canada (L2RIC) to organize the 2019 LWB, which will be held in Fredericton from May 2 to 4, 2019.
Our goal, in reaching out to you as a second language education stakeholder, is to encourage participation so that the maximum number of second language teachers, administrators, researchers, and students can benefit from this national conference being held in the Atlantic region.
As a second language stakeholder, we encourage you to consider 2019 LWB when planning professional development within your organization, and to facilitate the participation of teachers and educational professionals.
There are a number of ways in which stakeholders can encourage teachers to attend this event, such as making 2019 LWB a recommended professional learning opportunity, reserving May 3rd as a professional learning day, providing financial assistance to staff, or negotiating a group registration.
Both CASLT and L2RIC are committed to working with stakeholders to facilitate teacher participation and foster excellence in second language teaching and learning. To this end, conference organizers have assembled a team of volunteer ambassadors to engage more directly with L2 stakeholders, such as schools and school districts, ministry staff, language teachers’ associations, researchers, university students and faculty, language schools, et cetera.
Volunteer ambassadors are tasked with raising awareness of the LWB conference, encouraging L2 educators to submit session proposals, promoting attendance by teachers and educators, identifying potential partners, fostering stakeholder support, and consulting stakeholders about professional learning needs and priorities in the L2 field.
