In this interactive, hands-on workshop, Kate will draw from her 16 years of experience teaching Core and Post-Intensive French to address common challenges in language classrooms. She will share her top ten oral activities, carefully curated to boost student engagement and language use. These low-prep, high-impact strategies are designed to transform hesitant speakers into confident communicators. Participants will discover practical techniques to encourage target language use; explore various engaging, easy-to-implement activities; and gain access to a comprehensive slide deck with instructions and resources. Kate Powless
Kate Powless is a second language speaker, learner, and educator based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Her teaching career began in Japan in 2005, where she taught English as a Second Language. Since then, Kate has accumulated extensive experience teaching Core and Post-Intensive French to Grades 9 to 12. In the summer of 2022, she completed her Master of Education, focusing on student motivation and retention in second language programming. With a passion for language learning and teaching, Kate is excited to share her knowledge and experiences with fellow educators.
