Apply for a CASLT Research and Special Initiatives Grant
Each year, CASLT offers Research and Special Initiatives (RSI) grants to help teachers conduct research or initiate projects related to second language teaching. Five grants of up to $1000 each are available.
Topics and research questions should be linked to CASLT initiatives and areas of support. For more information, visit our RSI grants Web page.
The deadline to apply for an RSI grant is May 31, 2021.

Facilitating Language Learning Through Technology: A Literature Review on Computer-Assisted Language Learning
Computer-assisted language learning (CALL) can be effective in enabling learners to work autonomously, to receive individualized feedback, and to be exposed to real-world language in a range of varieties and voices. Deciding on which technology to use and then learning how to use it, however, represent onerous tasks for teachers. To make this process easier, CASLT commissioned researchers from the Language Research Centre (LRC) at the University of Calgary to review and summarize selected research on implementing CALL effectively, both inside and outside of language classrooms.

As part of the “Languages Build…” campaign, CASLT has developed an advocacy toolkit to raise awareness of numerous benefits of language learning. The tools in the kit are arranged by the eight impacts identified in the Literature Review on the Impact of Second-Language Learning, and they will be posted as the campaign unfolds.
