CASLT supports its members by creating opportunities for professional learning. We believe in offering high-quality and accessible professional development to our members regardless of their location or employer.

Online Professional Learning (OPL) Webinars

CASLT hosts between 6 and 8 Online Professional Learning (OPL) webinars each school year, targeted towards second language teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders. Our OPLs focus on delivering high-quality, research-based expertise with a focus on practical tips, tricks, strategies, and activities that L2 teachers can easily use in their classrooms.

We aim to offer each OPL in English and in French. OPLs typically take place on weekday evenings at 7pm ET via Zoom. They are recorded and stored in the CASLT Learning Centre for future asynchronous learning.

CASLT Chez-Vous (CCV) Sessions

In addition to our OPLs, we also offer CASLT Chez-Vous (CCV) sessions: full- or half-day professional development events in partnership with a local organization. CCVs range from 3-8 hours in length and can take place either in person or online.

Areas of Interest

CASLT is interested in hosting webinars on any subject of interest to L2 teachers, administrators, and stakeholders. We are particularly interested in the following subject areas:

• Assessment and evaluation
• Technology and blended learning environments
• Language proficiency frameworks (e.g., CEFR, CLB)
• Diversity and inclusion
• Plurilingualism and multilingualism
• Culturally-responsive pedagogy
• Leadership in L2 programs
• L2 teacher retention
• Action-oriented approach
• Project-based learning
