What is a CCV?

A CCV is a one-day or half-day professional development session, in-person or virtual, centred on a theme designed by CASLT or based on the expertise of a selected presenter. A CCV is designed to meet the following goals:

  • Provide local opportunities for professional development and growth to participants.
  • Increase motivation and understanding of current effective practices.
  • Support the application of effective research-based practices in daily teaching.

CCV Topics

CCV sessions can address a wide range of subjects of interest to second language teachers. Below are just a few examples of eligible CCV topics:

  • Remote teaching
  • Plurilingualism
  • Oral proficiency
  • Linguistic security
  • Inclusion and differentiation
  • The Action-Oriented Approach
  • Literacy strategies
  • Applications for the Common European Framework of Reference and Portfolio for Languages
  • And much more

CCV Presenters

Workshop presenters are selected based on the topic(s) requested by the hosting body and the presenter’s availability. The hosting body may also request a specific presenter, subject to that presenter’s availability and expertise on the workshop topic.

Who Can Request a CCV?

A CCV is offered in partnership with a local organization. Hosting bodies can be a university, a provincial second language association, a school board, or the provincial or territorial department of education, for example.

CASLT works with the hosting body to ensure that the specific program reflects the needs and interests of the participants. The program of the day will be developed with the hosting body.
