CASLT’s National Council consists of volunteer representatives from each province and territory who support and promote CASLT’s activities and initiatives in their respective regions. National Council representatives attend provincial language association meetings in a liaison role, represent CASLT at language teacher events, promote participation in CASLT’s programs, contribute to CASLT’s committees, and encourage membership recruitment and retention. Their terms are two years, and they can serve up to three consecutive terms.

Call for Candidates

We are currently seeking candidates to represent Manitoba on our National Council. Interested CASLT members in good standing in Manitoba should forward their candidacy to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by June 14, 2021.

Expressions of interest must include the following:

  • A short biography (75 words maximum) and a digital photo (high resolution passport format).
  • A message to CASLT members in your province (100–250 words) explaining your motivation and qualifications to represent them.
  • A resume (curriculum vitae).

Persons who wish to present their candidacy to the National Council must have an active CASLT membership before June 14, 2021.

Elections

If only one expression of interest is received for a province or territory, the candidate will be declared the provincial National Council representative by acclamation.

If there are two or more candidates in a given province or territory, an election will be conducted. On June 21, 2021, CASLT will send an online ballot that includes candidates’ biographies, photos, resumes, and messages to all active members within the province or territory. The ballot must be completed online by June 27, 2021.

New National Council representatives will be notified and invited to attend CASLT’s Annual General Meeting, Networking Day, and National Council Day in fall 2021, at which time an official announcement will be made.

Nominating Committee

CASLT’s nominating committee ensures the smooth functioning of the National Council nomination and election process. The nominating committee is appointed by the Board of Directors and is composed of the Vice President and two CASLT members in good standing.
