The National Council consists of volunteer representatives from each province and territory who support CASLT activities and initiatives in their regions. They provide liaison between the Association and the members in the provinces and territories.

The roles and responsibilities of the National Council Representatives vary within each province and territory, but include attending provincial language association meetings in a liaison role, representing CASLT at provincial language conferences or events, supporting communication and participation in CASLT programs and activities in their region, and encouraging membership recruitment and retention.

Elections

When a position on the National Council becomes available, CASLT sends out a notice to members in good standing of the respective province or territory, inviting those interested in serving in that capacity to send their application to the CASLT national office. Appointed by the Board of Directors and composed of the Vice President and two CASLT members in good standing, the nominating committee ensures the smooth functioning of the nomination and election process.
