Over the past thirty years of his career in education, Mark has been a strong advocate for equity and inclusion in French programs. His teaching career started in London, Ontario, as a Core French teacher, then continued in Toronto with late and early French immersion programs at the primary, junior, and intermediate levels. He became an Instructional Leader to support French teachers with best practices in the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). He moved on to administrative roles as vice-principal and principal to support schools with French programs.
Mark’s journey learning additional languages began with Grade 7 Core French. He continued to study French at university in Ontario and Quebec. Committed to life-long learning and professional growth, Mark has completed a master’s degree in curriculum, teaching and learning in multicultural and bilingual education issues. He is currently learning Spanish. Throughout his career, he has learned how to support multiple language learners in English and French and how to support both new and experienced teachers.
