Dr. Joanne Robertson is currently the Director of Languages Education and Online Learning for the North Vancouver School District. Joanne started her career in the K–12 system as a French Immersion teacher, later taking on leadership roles as a District French Facilitator, Vice-Principal, and District Administrator overseeing second language instruction, literacy, curriculum design, early learning, and special education.

Joanne has also taught extensively at the post-secondary level, working as a Faculty Associate and Lecturer in teacher education programs at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU). At the graduate level, Joanne has taught numerous courses in curriculum and educational leadership at UBC, SFU, the New York Institute of Technology, Vancouver Island University, Royal Roads University, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She currently supervises M.Ed. and doctoral students in their research studies.

Joanne continues to support the development of in-service second language teachers through presentations at local, provincial, and national conferences; the development of unique professional learning programs and initiatives; and her work with the CASLT Board.
