Dr. Joanne Robertson is a Lecturer in the Department of Language and Literacy in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She provides leadership for French teacher education and teaches literacy courses for elementary and secondary teacher candidates. Previously, Joanne was a Faculty Advisor in the teacher education program at UBC and a Faculty Associate in the Professional Development Program (PDP) at Simon Fraser University (SFU). Dr. Robertson has also taught graduate courses in educational leadership at the New York Institute of Technology, SFU, Vancouver Island University, Royal Roads University, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Dr. Robertson started her career in the K–12 system, where she was a French Immersion teacher, District French Facilitator, school Vice-Principal, District Principal, and a Director of Instruction overseeing a variety of district portfolios, including languages, literacy, curriculum implementation, assessment, early learning, and special education.
Dr. Robertson received a BA from UBC, a BEd from McGill, an MA in Curriculum Studies from SFU and a Doctor of Education in Transformational Change from SFU.
