2020 Honorary Lifetime Member Award recipient, Dr. Mary Grantham O’Brien

CASLT acknowledges individuals who have rendered significant service and demonstrated leadership in the advancement of second language education by granting them an Honorary Lifetime Member (HLM) Award.

First presented in 2003, the HLM award recognizes individuals from a variety of fields such as teaching, administration, politics, research, public service, etc. Awardees are individuals whose work has contributed significantly to language teaching and learning.

Award Criteria

The HLM Award recipient must have contributed significantly and broadly to the advancement of the teaching and learning of languages through any of the following areas:

  • Advocacy and Promotion
  • Policy
  • Administration and Leadership (school, ministry, or association context)
  • Professional development/Resource development
  • Pre-service teacher education
  • Research and Publication
  • Other

Recognition

CASLT rewards the important contribution of the winners of the HLM Award with:

  • A lifetime membership to CASLT
  • An invitation to CASLT’s Networking Day to receive the award
  • A commemorative plaque
  • Recognition on CASLT’s website and in Réflexions magazine

Selection Procedure

CASLT’s Board of directors selects the Honorary Lifetime Member.
