Description
This book proposes an approach to teaching French as an additional language (immersion or core French programs) focused on developing a positive and legitimate bilingual identity. Language teaching often favours language skills over the development of practices that promote a sense of belonging to the language and its community, which makes it difficult to establish a long-term relationship. To remedy this, the book proposes a four-pronged identity approach: perception of linguistic identity, perception of language skills, intercultural competence, and sense of belonging to the language community.
